I think that life can be compared to a maze.
The beginning is easy. It’s a snap to jump into something new like a job or relationship. Often, the hard part is getting out unscathed on the other end. When times get rough and we hit a dead end, making a strong finish can be difficult. Sometimes we are tempted to backtrack and return to the comfort of familiarity rather than forging ahead to the finish line.
Life takes many twists and turns along the way, much like a maze. There will be dead ends and obstacles along the way that one must overcome. It is easy to get frustrated and want to quit. In fact, the more frustrated you get, the harder it is to navigate. It is best to slow down, take stock of your surroundings, think about your next steps, and even retrace your steps for a little while if you need to. Eventually, with patience and perseverance, you will reach your goal.
Of course, there are those who want to take a shortcut. You have to watch out for them, because they can lead you astray or step on your back as they scale the wall rather than follow the right path. You must ask yourself which is more important: instant gratification, or succeeding with your honor intact.
