Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was Born on April 21, 1926 in Mayfair, London, England, United Kingdom. The Princess was christened in the private chapal at Buckingham Palace. On her accession on February 6th 1952, Elizabeth became Head of the Commonwealth and Queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon. Elizabeth was only 25 years old when she became Queen. Her reign of 61 years is currently the 2nd longest for a British monarch, only Queen Victoria her great-great grandmother has reigned longer at over 63 years!
Elizabeth met her future husband Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark in 1934 and 1937. After another meeting in July 1939, Elizabeth only 13 years old fell in love. Their engagement was officially announced on July 9th 1947. Elizabeth and Philip were married on November 20th 1947 at Westminster Abbey. They recieved 2500 wedding gifts from around the world! Elizabeth gave birth to her first child, Prince Charles on November 14 1948. A second child Princess Anne was born on August 15th 1950. Then Prince Andrew-Duke of York on February 19th 1960 and Prince Edward-Earl of Wessex on March 10th 1964. Queen Elizabeth had four children and 8 grand children.
