Black Lion, Stockport

Number six in this series highlighting the all to quick decline of our towns pubs, This time we visit the Black Lion.

Located on Middle Hillgate and dating to about 1840, This was one of many beerhouses built on Hillgate between 1825 and 1840, In fact there were over 100 places brewing or selling beer in the area at the time. It was re-built in 1887 in the " Gin Palace " style of the day. The building was re-modelled as offices in 2006.

A high muggle area and close to a police station so try not to look suspicious. Happy caching.
