There are more than 1,200 miles of irrigation canals and 17 reservoirs on the Flathead Reservation. The canals provide water delivery to approximately 127,000 acres. The Flathead Irrigation and Power Project on the Flathead Reservation began about 1907.
This is a small camouflaged cache container about 6" long, containing a log book. There is no need to go near the water during summer months, please watch children and pets when the water is running.
It is best to park your vehicle on Schafer Road (just of Caffrey Road) at N 47° 39.904’ W 114° 06.791 The canal road is narrow, rough and with no place to turn around. Walk west along the Pablo Feeder Canal Road for about a half of a mile to the cache passing "Gimli" on your way. This cache can also be accessed from Skyline Drive just south of Polson. You can park at the junction of Pablo Feeder Canal and Skyline Drive or drive the three quarters of a mile east to the cache. The road is rough and muddy at times so 4WD of high clearance might be advisable.
Cache seekers should have in their possession, a Flathead Reservation Conservation Permit.
