The Oostburg Public Library began in 1947 when a group of women formed "The Library Club" and rented room in the back of the Knotty Pine restaurant. Mrs. Jeanette Brusse was the first paid librarian. Later it moved into a back room of the Village Council Room and the current library building at 213 N 8th St was constructed in 1989.
The Oostburg Public Library is a member of the Eastern Shores Library System which consists of the public libraries in Sheboygan and Ozaukee county. A library card holder has access to all the libraries in the system and through the online catolog has access to all the items in the 14 libraries as well as Lakeland College.
