Ice Breaker 4 - Curling Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

dkeato: Well the ice is slowly thawing, and Spring will be here soon. Time to start thinking about kayaking on the lake, rather than curling. What will next year bring? I will let you know in about 10 months. Thanks to all who attended.

Geocache Description:

Try to explain this to to a muggle: Dozens of people drive to the middle of nowhere, in the freezing cold, to stand on a frozen lake for a few hours? Makes sense to me!

It must be that time of year. Feeling stuck in the house. No events scheduled in the middle of a lake. Haven't played curling in a long time. Well, you are in luck. This event will have everything you need.

Come meet cachers from NY, Pa, and NJ, and maybe other states. Last year we tried croquet on the frozen lake, and that worked out pretty well. This year will attempt curling, as I understand we have stones ready to go. It may look something along the lines of this:.

Of course there will be ice fishing, skating, and general good cheer.

Bring your own choice of beverage, and perhaps something to throw on the grill (Moose sausage may or may not be served this year)
Lets start at noon, and stay as long as you like.
Overnight accommodations available at my cabin, and yes there is heat! I will be heading up the night before, feel free to crash one night or two.

Lake is accessed only by a private road. Gate is located at N 41° 41.125 W 074° 37.205. The entrance can be seen on the geocaching map, at the intersection of Fred Road, Wildwood Road, and Thompsonville Road. Open the gate and come down to lake, make a left, and head up until you see house 31. Then head down the stairs to the ice.

If you can't make it, I understand. It is probably more fun to grab a cache at the mall or on a guardrail anyway.
