Geocache Description:

On the 10th of January, 2004, on a headland 3 hours south of Sydney, Australia, the very first EarthCache was 'placed' by Geoaware and his two daughters. EarthCache I –a simple geology tour of Wasp Head—sat for two weeks before it was found by Tankengine, who became the FTF an EarthCache! On the 10th of January, 2014, GSA will celebrate the 10th Birthday of the EarthCache program. EarthCachers around the world are hosting over 100 different events to help us celebrate.

We are pleased to announce that we now have close to 17,600 active EarthCaches around the globe, which have been visited by over 4 million people. An amazing 19,930+ EarthCache Masters Awards have been earned, and 1,340+ EarthCache Discovery Awards have been received. In New Brunswick, there are over 100 Earthcaches, from the Bay of Fundy to the Northumberland Bay/Baie de Chaleur. Hundreds of cachers joined GSA for the 2nd International EarthCache Event (2IEE) in St. George, Utah, USA, in September, and globally, dozens of others attended events celebrating International EarthCache Day in October. So thanks very much to everyone who has visited an EarthCache, developed an EarthCache, earned EarthCache awards, and attended, hosted, or volunteered at an EarthCache event! Come and celebrate the 10th Anniversary Celebrations. Event details are as follows: Date: Friday 10 January 2014 Timings: 5 -7 pm What: Cake, conversation, and of course Earthcaches!! Please log your "Will Attends" so we can save a piece of Mother Earth for you!!!
