Geocache Description:

The cache is a camouflaged 'clip-lock' box hidden around the rocks near to the end of the Black Head promontory.

Take care not to damage plants or move rocks whilst searching. Please replace and conceal as found without adding any extra covering material.

Black Head is the name of the headland to the Northern edge of Mevagissey Bay. Most of the area is a Scheduled Monument (SM) and is the site of an ancient promontory fort or cliff castle though little is evident other than two ditches or ramparts. More recent archaeological remains result from an old Victorian rifle range of which rusting remains of the target retrieval mechanism can be seen on the approach to the cache.

The approach to the cache is the obvious path that leaves the Coast Path and follows the crest of the headland. The path negotiates a rocky step shortly before reaching the cache then the path becomes grassy. When the paths branch take the right-hand fork leading to the hiding place.

Enjoy the area and please take care not to cause any damage to plants or move any stones in your searching.
Cache placed with the kind permission of the NATIONAL TRUST who also helped at the location with selecting a suitable hide and placing the cache.
