As a kid, we discovered that Bronte Creek was just overflowing with salmon and trout in the fall. If you wandered up the creek just after dusk, you could sneak up behind the salmon, and pull them from the water with only your hands. Now that was fun! Of course, we never kept them. Just put them back in the water, and let them go on their way. We did, however, catch and keep the brown trout, by fishing in the creek. Usually the deeper pools. We always started by Petro-Canada Park, and got picked up at the lower parking lot under the QEW. Those were the days. Always fun! I believe the area is now a Fish Sanctuary, and fishing during the salmon and trout runs (Spring and Fall) is not permitted.
