Shutterton bridge has been around for hundreds of years. Parish records show the building of a bridge to allow the passage of carts across the stream as it regularly flooded. Recently, there has been some expansion and improvement to the bridge, in order to accomodate the extra run off from new developments in the area. Time will tell if it works or not?
The bridge is well used by many, both during & after the holday season. It connects to secmaton lane, which is pedestrianised, and various paths/lanes to the North side of Dawlish, and just across the main road, is the new footpath connecting Dawlish Warren, and the South West coast path.
There is plenty of parking locally, and the local Bus, stops less than Thirty yards away.
