Geocache Description:

An ammo tin cache along Johnson Trail at Salt Lick Point.

This cache can be approached from one of two ways.  For a longer more difficult hike use the Newman Trailhead near the UCC chruch in Valmeyer.  Or for an easier hike park at the Salt Lick Nature Reserve lot off Bluff Rd and enter at the Johnson Trailhead.

Johnson Trail is a relativly flat easy walk that takes you along the base of the bluffs.  From here you can see the different layers of rock and the occasional caves leftover from the days the quarry was in operation.  In the summer months you are able to feel the cold air pour out from the caves.  Large boulders that had over time fallen from the bluffs above, also dot the hike.
