Chinese Pillars at University Main Entrance (The Four Pillars)
At the entrance of the University, a stone tablet reads "The Chinese University of Hong Kong" in elegant Chinese calligraphy written by Dr. Li Choh Ming, the first Vice-Chancellor of the University. The four Chinese pillars erected next to it are the traditional Huabiao, or the "publicity post", which is an important architecture feature representing the liberal and open spirit of the University.
