Geocache Description:

A MULTI CACHE HUNT AROUND ENGLEMERE POND.

When Sam was a mere Chick he would often stretch his wings around Englemere Pond, an area he so loves he even set up a Night Cache Hunt here. Back in the day, Number Six had a great Multi Cache here for us all to enjoy in the daylight. Sadly this was archived a while back, so we've set up a new one in his Honour. Englemere pond is too nice an area to only cache by Moonlight!

Englemere Pond is a Nature Reserve consisting of a shallow acidic lake offering a wide range of habitats that are important for wildlife. The site is extremely popular with dog-walkers, ramblers, nature lovers & Night Cachers! For much of its recorded history the site has been part of a great Royal Hunting Forest that surrounded Windsor Castle and today it still is part of the Crown Estate.

The site is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) for its important range of habitats and associated species. For this reason please stay to designated paths & trails. For further info visit www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/englemerepond .

This Multi Cache will take you on a walk around this lovely site. It is likely to take approx 2hrs to complete. Clues will need to be solved at each stage to guide you ultimately to the GZ. Respect the LNR / SSSI status; you will not need to venture into any sensitive area (or the Pond!).

The final Cache Location is at co-ordinates: N AB.CD.EFG W HIJ.KL.MNO

STAGE ONE.

1. Count the steps on the Main Boardwalk. Round DOWN to the nearest Hundred. Number of hundreds = O.

2. Find the year when G. M. Hughes was quoted talking about the area. Add these four digits together = MN.

STAGE TWO.

1. How many images of birds are there on the Notice Board? Answer = CD.

STAGE THREE.

The London to Reading rail line runs along the entire Southern border of the site. Find either of the blue boards next to the track along this stretch of the line. Make a note of the large number on the board.

1. Add 21 to the number.

2. Answer = AB.

STAGE FOUR.

In the Summer of 2015 the Rangers carried out significant improvements to the pathway around the pond, & added this great new viewing Boardwalk.

1. How many planks are on this Boardwalk? Subtract from this the number of fence posts on the Boardwalk fence, then divide this number by 10 = LK.

STAGE FIVE.

Near here you will become aware of the noise of the traffic on the nearby London Road. Bet you've missed that!

1. You are very close to the route of Blackmoor Stream, which forms the District Boundry of Windsor & Maidenhead and Bracknell Forest. In which year was this marked with an Official sign?

2. What is the designation of the London Road? A???

Take the year the Boundry sign was errected & subtract (the number of the A road multiplied by three). Answer is a four digit number. Last three digits = HIJ.

STAGE SIX.

Nearly there. By now you've come so far, you may need to get a bus home. Whilst you're waiting for it, make a note of who you need to phone & thank for giving you shelter. Use the last 6 digits of their number.

1. Digit three + digit four = E.

2. Digit one - digit three = F.

3. Digit five - digit six = G.

Don't be a Weirdo. Help Sam complete this appropriate number of labours to find Number Six.

Englemere is a cracking place to visit. If you enjoy it by day; why not stay a while and experience it by Night too? "Ellie's Englemere Insomnia" is waiting for you.....

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of Bracknell Forest Council.
