Geocache Description:

This series is designed to encourage local or visiting cachers to explore and discover the mighty and fascinating fortification remains that are dotted around Alderney’s majestic coastline.

Any exploration should be done with great caution. That said, these cache locations are by no means outrageous: The Vlads have been frequenting these spots for years with very little trouble.

Fortification Series - Mount Hale Battery

The battery at Mount Hale and the Arsenal behind were built in the late 1800s to further fortify Braye Harbour, already flanked by Fort Gronez and Fort Albert. Although not too large, the structures were mainly used for storage of weaponry and as barracks. The fort now borders the local Footbal Club, and the Arsenal is the site for flats.

The cache is up a slope outside the walls that may be somewhat slippery, especially in wet weather. You will need a pen.
