---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a fairly simple puzzle about a THING which had it’s 50th birthday in 2013, but is going to be almost extinct.
If you are above the age of 30 you most probably used this THING in your youth. Find out the THING and just fill in the red marked numbers in the text to calculate the final co-ordinates.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 19AB, Philips invented the THING introducing it in Europe on C0. August 196D and in the United States in November 196E.

Although there were other systems, Philips' THING became dominant as a result of Philips' decision in the face of pressure from Sony to license the format free of charge.

In the early years, sound quality was mediocre, but it improved dramatically by the early 1970s when it caught up with the quality of F-track-tape and kept improving.

The THING went on to become very popular during the late 1970s. The mass production of the THING began in 1964 in Hanover, Germany.

During the 1980s, the THING's popularity grew further as a result of portable pocket recorders and high-fidelity players, which used a body not much larger than the THING itself with mechanical keys on one side, or electronic buttons or display on the face.

Extinction Process

In Western Europe and North America, the market for the THING declined sharply after its peak in the late 1980s due to the introduction of the Compact Discs during the early 1990s.
The decline continued such that in 2001 the THING accounted for only G % of all music sold.

In 20HJ, the revised Oxford English Dictionary announced it would be removing the word "THING tape" from its Concise version, causing some media backlash. The term was removed to help make room for more than K00 new words being added to the dictionary.
