Geocache Description:

HORSE HILL

During the winter season, Horse Hill is well known for its car park which has become the gateway to the mountain. Development of this car park and associated snow play area has opened up the mountain to day visitors. Historically, day visitors had to pay exorbitant fees for Jeeps to ferry them to the Village and back (before there were free buses available for this service). Generally this deterred the day trippers until the Horse Hill development occurred.

The chairlift caters not only to the snow bunnies – it is operational year round and offers a scenic vantage of the Mount Buller resort and surrounds. The chairlift on the northern slope departs from the day car park and will take you to a restaurant. There is more information available on the Mt Buller website for those who would like further information in relation to this area.

A relatively short walk will see you at GZ, there is plenty of parking. The hill is covered in shrub so be careful with your foot placement. As always we do not suggest this cache be attempted in the snow season, digging in snow can be both futile and dangerous.
