Cranham Common Traditional Cache

The cache is a glass kilner jar. It has room for small swappables.
Cranham Common is an area of limestone grasslands. The grassland is grazed by a herd of hardy cattle and thanks to careful management, the environmental quality of the Common has been steadily improving year by year. The common forms part of the Cotswold Commons and Beech Woods National Nature Reserve, an internationally important area managed by Natural England and the National Trust which includes some of Britain’s finest beechwoods and limestone grasslands. Near to the cache is a plaque bearing the names of the donating names of the original families and individuals who purchased the common from the Lord of the Manor. The herd of very docile cows are grazed on the common during winter months. You may notice the occasional apparently pointless wooden gate on the common (One is near the cache.) This is all part of the cattle control. Dogs should be kept on a lead if cattle are nearby and it is wise not to let them pee on an electric fence. The cache is placed with the knowledge of Cranham Common Trust, The Common Management Committee and Natural England.
