From MT Hwy 200 turn onto Hwy 382 towards Hot Springs. Cross the bridge and take an immediate left. This brings you to a large parking and input area for floating the river and or camping along the river. The Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes have recently renovated this area. There are two new informational signs at this location. Wonderful information about the history of this sacred tribal landscape, as well as a listing of all the Salish-Pend d'Oreille Place Names along the Flathead river corridor. Check out the new info, then continue down the way to GZ.
First and foremost, any non-tribal persons age 11 and older deciding to look for this cache or the others on Flathead Indian Reservation lands, must purchase and carry on their person a Tribal Recreation Permit. The green signs you see on the trees about no trespassing to non-tribal members w/o rec permit is just that... if you have your permit on you, you may access this area. These permits can be bought in various stores in most towns on the reservation, as well as renewals online at the following locations:
