Established in 1899, the town of Kennard began as a thriving lumber mill community. Upon shutdown of the mill in 1920, the town dwindled to less than 400 people. The firm who owned the land sold it to the federal government who established the Davy Crocket National Forest in the 1930s. Today, it's merely a blink of the eye while driving through. Even though there is a store and a school, not much else is here. However, this area is home to some great hunting, fishing, and hiking.
Congrats to smilesco for FTF!!!
