Geocache Description:

A multi-cache at Polmaise Murray Mining Museum.  The coordinates are for the car park at the museum which is an outdoor display.  All the information you need to solve the final coordinates can be found at the museum and at a nearby way point.


"In the carse of Polmaise there's a hole in the ground

Where the borders have bored and the coal has been found

As you go through the gate into the museum there are several large information boards.

What year did construction of the mine commence?

What year did it close?

How many years was it open? AB


Take some time to wander around the museum. Many of the exhibits have information boards.


How many benches are there in the museum? C

How many concrete planters? E


On one of the benches is a plaque remembering those miners who lost their lives whilst working at the colliery. How many died? FG


Exit the museum. There is a wagon parked on the lawned area between the car park and the road. How many spokes does each wheel have? H


Follow the path towards Fallin Bing and head to the Cairn (way point provided).
