Geocache Description:

The original Memories of Moonfleet (GCG4Q8) has been archived but as it was the first cache I ever found I couldn't let it go. The cache is located in a lovely area near the Fleet just off the coast path.

At Christmas in 2007 my son told us about something he'd come across on-line called geo-caching. There was one near us, he said. When he showed us the details on his new phone we could actually envisage the tree in the description. We just had to find it on Boxing Day 2007. This was the start of a new hobby. This year when I was flicking back through my notes I was sorry to see it had been archived because the CO was unable to maintain it. I also realised that on 23rd September 2007 I probably featured in the picture of Muggles who, it turned out, were re-building the dry-stone wall down by the Fleet. So, I decided we had to re-set one in place of the old Memories of Moonfleet.

You will have to walk about a mile to the cache. Parking can be in the village of Langton Herring (near the phone box) which is the driest approach in Winter or on the road down to Moonfleet Manor and walk along the SW coast path (which can be very muddy) or it is easily found if you are staying at the nearby camp/caravan site.

You could make a nice round trip by taking in Coastguards View (GC34D9H) Outer Limit Mark (6WREE) and Birthday Bash 1 (GC1AMDH) as well.
