(EN) Franciscan Monastery and the Roman Catholic Church
The Franciscan Monastery and the Roman Catholic Church or Pater, as it is called, is located at Alecsandri street, no 1. Since the fifteenth century there was a monastery in Fagaras Roman Catholic Church, which is situated on the current street D-na Stanca. On April 22, 1737 starts the building of new churches and monasteries. The building of the church is completed in 1742 and the ground floor of the monastery in 1752. The fire of May 31 1760, which burned almost the entire city, destroyed the roof of the church. Next year the construction recommenced with the new rococo style which finished in 1782. On September 26 1782 the holy church "Holy Trinity" is sanctified.
On entering the church there are three tombstones from the first half of the nineteenth century, which contain carved signs from the guilds of tanners and wheelwrights.
In the church there is an Angster Joseph 1895 organ, two manuals and 16 registers. The monastery's courtyard is enclosed by corridors with arches on the ground, floor and upstairs. Here are two sundials which indicate times from 8 to 15. This church is recognized as an architectural monument which makes our city proud.
The Secret Tunnel
There is an underground secret tunnel dug between Fagaras Fortress and Franciscan monastery on Tabacari. There are testimonials and there are people who have seen with their own eyes the catacombs beneath the city. The Secret Tunnel were Franciscan monks go to the church in the Castle Room Diet or underpasses built for the owners are able to run in case of siege ... Franciscan Church does not want to know this detail, though the tunnel is through an annex of the church. Shortcomings Franciscans strikingly resembles those of the Knights Templar, who were studded Paris underground network.
There is an another underground passage which locals tell. It goes from the Fortress, under the Olt river to church from Hălmeag, Sercaia. BYOP
(RO) Mănăstirea Franciscană și Biserica Romano-Catolică
Mănăstirea Franciscană și Biserica Romano-Catolică sau Pater cum se mai numeste , este situate pe Str. Vasile Alecsandri Nr. 1. Inca din secolul al XV-lea a existat o mănăstire din Fagaras Biserica Romano-Catolica - care este pe strada curent D - na Stanca . La data de 22 aprilie 1737 se începe construirea de noi biserici și mănăstiri ascensiune . Construirea bisericii este finalizată în 1742 și la parterul mănăstirii în 1752 . Aici sunt două cadrane solare care indică ori 8-15 . Această biserică este recunoscut ca un monument de arhitectură care ne face mandri de orasul nostru.
Tunelul secret
Există un tunel secret săpat în subteran între Cetatea Făgăraş şi mănăstirea Franciscană de pe Tăbăcari . Sunt mărturii şi există oameni care au văzut cu ochii lor catacombele de sub oraş. Culoare secrete prin care călugării franciscani ajungeau de la biserică în Sala Dietei de la Cetate sau pasaje subterane construite pentru ca proprietarii castelului să poată fugi în caz de asediu… Biserica Franciscană nu vrea să se ştie acest amănunt, deşi intrarea în tunel se face printr-o anexă a bisericii. Metehnele franciscanilor seamănă izbitor de mult cu cele ale Cavalerilor Templieri, care au împânzit Parisul de reţele subterane.
Mai este un pasaj subteran despre care localnicii povestesc. Acesta merge de la Cetate pe sub Olt până la biserica din satul Hălmeag, comuna Şercaia.
