This cache series was originally developed by Maryland cacher MDSurveyor with his cache P.O. Box – Bel Air in April 2008. Since then, over 100 P.O. Box caches have popped up around the world. With his kind permission and help, I am continuing the concept to include more locations.
Last year I placed PO Box caches at Posts Offices located North and South of the city. This year I am completing what I started with caches placed to the East and West of Rochester. Once again I tried my best to make this winter accessible without it being a lamp skirt hide. During the winter months you may have to make your way through some snow, but the cache itself should be free and clear. The hide may be a little trickier for someone new to the game, but should be fairly obvious for a seasoned veteran.
This particular puzzle uses a slightly different method which was originated by monkeydogfish.
Most of the P.O. Box geocaches use a "Grid:Row:Column" system to identify which P.O. boxes you need to find. This puzzle is a little bit different. You still need to find several boxes, but rather than a Grid:Row:Column number you'll be given a starting box followed by some directions to get to the box you're looking for.
North = Up, South = Down, West = Left, East = Right.
e.g. "start at 100, go South 1, East 1" would mean find box 100, and count one box down, and one box to the right to find the new number.
ABC: start at 868, go West 9, North 3, West 4
DEFG: start at 1101, go West 8, South 5, East 1
HJK: start at 252, go South 7, East 2, North 6
The final cache location is:
North 43° EJ.BDG
West 077° HA.FKC
The P.O. Box lobby is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
