This cache is part of the Furukawa water park series. I was set up in the park of Furukawa water purification plant near the cache.

このキャッシュは古川親水公園シリーズの一部です。キャッシュは古川浄水場付近の公園内に設置しました。
江戸時代に行徳塩田から江戸へ塩を運ぶために掘られた船堀川で、後に水運ルートが南側へと変更となった際、新しい運河を新川と呼ぶのに対して、旧船堀川を古川と呼び残されました。古川は、江戸川や利根川からの物資を江戸へ運ぶ水運の役割を果たしてきたが、交通網が発達すると共にその役目は終わり、生活排水や工場排水が流れ込むようになり、1970年頃までには悪臭が漂ういわゆるドブ川となっており、江戸川区は川を埋め立てる予定であったが、川を残してほしいという地元の要望を受け、水の流れる公園として再生させることとなりました。 1973年7月にはその一部が完成し、日本初の親水公園となりました。
