Geocache Description:

This is a series of geocaches to commemorate our Great State of New Mexico.  All of the geocaches are named for settlements that once thrived in Dona Ana county but some of them are now nothing more than footnotes in our history.  They have all played an important role in the settling and growth of our county and some of them are still active communities, rich with culture, architecture, and historic buildings.

On north side of Sierra De Cristo Rey (former Rodadero Peak)
1.9 miles east of Pelea (Anapra)
0.2 miles west of Bowen Tunnel
5.3 miles west of El Paso, Texas
The tunnel was later opened up to form the Bowen Cut. 0.2 miles east of Bowen (mileage from center of tunnel)
0.9 miles west of Rio Grande River
5.1 miles west of El Paso, Texas

This settlement was probably primarily for railroad workers making and maintaining the Bowen Tunnel and later the cut.

A very interesting website on the railroad the once ran along the border from El Paso to Douglas, AZ can be found at 'ghostsofthesouthline/towns'
