Geocache Description:

A simple traditional cache in the Cape Reinga area - one of New Zealand's northernmost caches.

The cache is along a well graded track which would eventually take you down to Te Werahi beach and on to Cape Maria van Diemen. The view from the cache site of the Cape Reinga rock cliffs, the long Te Werahi beach, the dunes and then Cape Maria van Diemen is spectacular, its as good or better (because its a little closer) than from the lighthouse itself. One of the great views in New Zealand in our opinion.

You do not need to leave the track to access this cache. Take particular care in the area as the cliff is sheer within 2 metres of the track and cache.

The cache is a 2 litre plastic can hidden so as to protect it from the always brisk wind. On placement we left a signature pathtag.

Be careful to leave it concealed in the undergrowth.
