This cache has been archived.

TheCur8or: As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

This is a simple hide designed to draw cachers off-road to see a beautiful spot suitable for picnicking and scenic photo shoots.

Many visitors drive right by on their way to somewhere else and do not know this little gem is right by the road.

Lake Ngakeketa is a dune lake which drains through to Te Paki Stream along which cars and tour buses drive to arrive at, or come from, Ninety Mile Beach.

As the track is grass, caution is advised if driving after rain.  It is a short walk, after all. so consideration should be given to parking by the road.

Enjoy the views, bring a picnic, watch out for pinecones - but be aware that you will not be able to use them for a barbeque anywhere nearby as the entire Aupouri Peninsula is under 12-month fire bans (without permit).
