Este pequeno e decrépito edifício tem uma longa história.

Actualmente é um simples armazém, mas os seus dias começaram como Mercado de Peixe a vários kilometros deste local, na sede do conselho, Silves.
Foi construído na margem direita do rio Arado o que possibilitava a descarga do peixe que chegava de barco.

Durante o Estado novo, provavelmente década de cinquenta, foi contraído o actual Mercado Municipal e feitas obras de melhoramente no cais de Silves e o consequente desmantelamento deste edifício.

Algum tempo mais tarde todos os seus componentes foram transportados para esta vila piscatória onde foi remontado e serviu de mercado até Abril de 1991, altura em que foi inaugurado o actual mercado apenas a alguns metros.

This bulding has a long and curious story.

There was a market within its walls since the ending of the 50's until Aprill 1991, when a new building, by the end of the street was inaugurated.

However its existance began long before and many kilometers away from this place.

It was originally built on the right side of the Arade river on the town of Silves as a fish market. Its location made it possible to directly unload the fish that arrived in boats. When the current municipal market of Silves was built and the wharf was remodeled, it was dismantled and stored for a while.

Later it was brought to this place and rebuilt. Besides the original iron structure and the stone pillars, the roof structure and its tiles are also the original ones.
