Geocache Description:

Here is my 27th Church Micro. You're looking for a nano.

For those not in the know The Church Mirco Series is intended to be as big a cache size as you can muster, Steve (sadexploration) explains.
Click here page 4.
The series is called ‘Church Micro’ I encourage cachers to hide as large a cache as it's possible to. It’s just that Church 2.5 Lt clip box’ didn’t quite roll off the tongue as well.

So on to the church description.

Radstock Methodist Church was formed in 1842 but the present building opened in 1902. It was damaged by a fire in 2004, and reopened in 2005.

Wesleyan Chapel & Schools - from the 1902 Coronation Programme,
Wesleyan Church. MINISTER, REV. C. ANGWIN. THE site of the New Church is close to the two railway stations, and from each a good view can be obtained of it. The Church, which consists of a nave, with aisles on each side, is 59ft. 9in. long, by 37ft. 3in. wide, with a choir at the back raised above the nave, and in front is a rostrum. There is a gallery all round the building, supported by iron columns, and approached by three staircases, one on either side of the Church, at the front, and one at the back. There are six, entrances to the Church, all of which command the ground floor, and will admit of exceptionally rapid exit, in case of panic from fire or any other cause. Three of these entrances lead to the gallery. The porches and vestibules are so planned as to protect those sitting near the entrances from draught. The roof is in one span, and rises to the height of 3oft. 6in. to the ceilings, and 30 ft. to the ridge of the roof. The ceiling is panelled, and divided into five bays by handsome massive timber principals, supported by corbels on main walls, and on iron columns with moulded caps and vases. Ample ventilation is provided in the roof for extracting the foul air by means of ornamental perforations in the ceiling, and opening into a foul air chamber between the ceiling and the ridge. From this chamber the vitiated air will be drawn out by two of Boyle's patent self-acting foul air extractors. Fresh air will be admitted by inlets inserted on the principle of Tobin's tubes in the various sills of the windows : in addition to this automatic ventilation, hopper casements are put into numerous windows to secure direct and natural ventilation as far as practicable without draught. The building is lighted by a four-light traceried window in the front gable over the front entrance, by ten two-light tracery windows of somewhat similar design at the sides over the gallery, and eight two-light square-headed windows in the aisles under the gallery, all of which are filled in with cathedral glass in diamond and square-shaped quarries, with margins and borders. The chancel is divided from the nave by a semi-circular moulded arch, resting on stone columns with richly moulded caps and vases. It is lighted from a three-light traceried window, similar to those in the Church. The woodwork of the rostrum, communion rail and table, is in keeping with the style of the building. The seats throughout are of varnished pitch pine, specially designed for comfort and convenience. Sittings for 536 persons are provided, 280 of whom will occupy the body of the Church, and 256 the gallery. In the Sunday Schools in connection with the Church, there is an attendance of 213 scholars. C. A.
