Geocache Description:

This one is for the family Sunday drive and picnic. Formed by the damming of Reynolds Creek in 1961 Moogerah Dam was constructed to provide a reservoir for irrigation in the Fassifern Valley.

The dam is a mass concrete double curvature wall 219 m in length. The dam holds 83765 ML of water and has a lake surface area of 827 ha. Below the dam is a scenic gorge that flows into Warrill Ck & then into the Bremer & Brisbane Rivers.

During the 1995 drought dam levels declined to a low of 1% total capacity. The dam reached 100% capacity due to rainfall associated with the 2010–2011 Queensland floods, with water flowing over the spillway for the first time since 1991 on 6 December 2010.

During the 2013 floods Moogerah Dam filled to record levels with the levels rising nearly 4 m above spillway height. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6V4Ad18yEyc

The original cache I Was Dammed (the first) http://coord.info/GCTZR6 was down below the spillway and has last seen floating past Moreton Island in February 2013.
