The earliest parts of this church are Saxon but over the years it has been added and altered by the Normans, Tudors and in the 19th century by the Victorians.
The nave reflects all these periods in its decoration. The north and south doorways date from the 14th century whilst the square headed windows date from the 15th century. There are fragments of mediaeval stain glass in the south window depicting angels playing musical instruments and Saint Saint Mary Magdelene and Saint Catherine with her wheel.. The water colours of the Saints were painted in 1965 by Robert Dombrain, and they were discovered recently when the ancient iron bound parish chest was opened.

The pulpit dates from the 17th century with heads of angels in the spandrels above the blank arches. It came from the redundant church at North Barningham. Behind the pulpit there are the signs of a blocked of long demolished north Transept. There is an octagonal font which dates from the 15th century. It is octagonal on a step with a stem andeach face of the bowl carrying carved armorial shields, including those of well known local families.

The screen dates from the 14th century.
The church has a round tower which is 48 feet tall and has an internal diameter of 7 feet at ground level and walls which are 3 ft 4ins thick. The lower part of this round tower is from the Saxon period. The higher reaches were built in the 14th and 15th century. The tower has a single bell which was cast between 1400 and 1425.The tower was restored in 1995.
The south porch of the church is late 14th century but has undergone restoration work in 1896.
The kneelers were designed by Fiona French, the author and illustrator of children’s book, and were made by parishioners and friends of the church between 1993 and 1996.
You are looking for a bison tube hidden outide the church boundary. There is only room for a log sheet so please bring your own pen. There is a small area close to the church where you can park but the lane is very quiet anyway.
