The cache is located on the Fenceline Trail, a one-half mile loop trail off the North Loop or Water Tower Loop Trail, depending on which direction you go. Please check the trail map on the kiosk near the flagpole. Of course you could bushwhack to it and miss a nice trail walk.
This area was once a work camp for the workers who built Carpenter Dam. It was a self-sufficient village containing barracks for the single men and cottages for the married ones, a commissary, mess hall, bath houses, dance halls, a movie theater, church, hospital, and even a primary school for the workers' children. At the height of construction, during the fall of 1929, nearly 1000 men were employed on-site.
Entergy, our electric company who owns Lake Hamilton, kindly donated 30 acres to the city in 2003 for the development of this park. It features more than two miles of hiking and biking trails, a playground, and a handicapped-accessible fishing boardwalk. There are also picnic facilities with grills and tables so bring the family and spend the day!
You can learn more about letterboxing at www.letterboxing.org. If there are any problems with the cache or if you don't find it please make a comment or post a DNF so that I can promptly check on it. I hope you enjoy my first letterbox hide and your time in the park.
