We thought it might be a little fun to place some caches with the goal of getting to know a little more about our fellow geocachers and their experiences while geocaching. Our most embarrassing moment to date might be getting stopped by the police while searching for a geocache on the CNE grounds this past summer. While down on my knees with my hand groping the underside of a gate, a shadow appeared beside me and a low voice asked, “Ma’am, can I ask what you’re placing under the gate?” This led to having to explain that we weren’t ‘placing’,but ‘searching’, showing the phone app and desperately hoping that the officer knew what geocaching was. He let us continue searching and we promised to show him the cache if we should find it. Of course, once we found it, the officer had moved on, likely having brushed us off as a couple of crazy women.
