Geocache Description:

This cache was placed in Historic Uptown Somerset. The land the cache is placed on was the home of Trinity Lutheran Church until it burned down Christmas Eve, 1965.  The property was sold and then came under the ownership of Ernest Alexas, a Johnstown businessman.  Alexas then sold the park and adjoining J.J. Newberrry and Sun Drug properties to a local business couple.

After the buildings were renovated, they were sold to a Pittsburgh business person, but they park was not sold and was called "Alexas Park" in honor of the previous owner.  In 2011, the park was donated to Somerset, Inc., A Community Revitalization Program and it is now to be called "Trinity Park" in honor of the church that stood there.  Somerset, Inc. has developed a plan to redo the park and has granted permission for this cache.  Please be respectful, no need to trample any vegetation, and please practice CITO if needed and beware of muggles.  A 2014 Fire & Ice Festival pin is included for the FTF.

**Congratulations to LT Silverfox on the FTF**
