I wanted to place a cache here because its a lovely place to just sit, relax and contemplate about life, love and geocaching.
A brief history of this location. There has been a pier here since 1735. It was built to fix the location of the river channel as it was always changing due to sand flats and silt bars and in some places it was only 5ft deep. The pier on the west of the river was built to prevent the river mouth from silting up. The west pier catches the sand and silt which would clog up the river from the sand dunes. The original piers are no longer here as they have been replaced over the years however the footings can still be seen at low tide. There has been a lot of changes over the years and the area is now under going a project to improve the flood defences for the local areas future. Its a great place to watch the sunset and rise and to take lovely pictures of the coast line!
When you are at ground zero take a seat and think about your past geocaching experiances and maybe in your logs write what your favourite geocache or geocache related experience was!
In the summer months the pier is a high muggle area so please use stealth when retrieving and replacing the cache container. I hope you enjoy this cache, Happy Hunting!
