This cache is in honor of Lyles "LT" Trussell. LT is one of the best softball players to ever play on the softball fields in Ponca City. He started his career in softball playing on the Mertz Field and then to Willow Springs before the new YMCA complex was built. He started playing the game of Men's softball in the 70's and playing for Julie's and Taco Grande teams. He later went on to play on many men's softball teams along with Co-ed teams in Ponca City like the A's of Ponca City, Ponca City Merchant's, St. Mary's. Evans Law, Merrified, Express, A~Z, Yard Dawgs, Central Baptist Church and Taco Stop just to name a few. LT has been named All-American Player, All-Star Team Player, and many more honors but the one that was the highlight was when he was inducted into the ASA Softball Hall of Fame in February of 1999. He is a man with the LOVE of the game and is ready to hit the field at a moments notice. Most of his career was spent on the pitching mound and for good reason. He is known best for his knuckle ball and strike outs. I'm not sure when he will be hanging up his glove but in his 60's he is still playing strong.
