Geocache Description:

Placed by an avid geocaching kid and active boy scout. This cache is near the scout building and shop. Run inside if you want to buy any scout material, including the geocaching merit badge handbook. For those who also like letterboxing, there is a letterbox on the same lot if you feel like finding and logging. 


Boy Scouts

Started in 1910, Boy Scouts of America is still an active organization that serves approximately 2.7 million youth members per year, with 1,067,513 adult volunteers who dedicate their time to this worthy organization. In 2012, 13,449,017 service hours were reported and valued at $297,761,236 of service was provided by Scouts and leaders to communities across America. (Based on the $22.14 Independent Sector value of volunteer time for 2012). In 2012, 57,976 Scouts earned the Eagle Scout rank—more than in any previous year.  From 1912 to 2012, more than 2 million Boy Scouts have earned the Eagle Scout rank.

Girl Scouts

Founder Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout Troop on March 12, 1912, in Savannah, Georgia. Today there are 3.2 million Girl Scouts—2.3 million girl members and 890,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers. More than 59 million American women have enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood—and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.

This cache is near the scout building and shop, which serves both boy scouts and girl scouts in Yuma. Run inside if you want to buy any scout material, including the geocaching merit badge handbook.
