One of a series of caches based upon film locations around Middleton St George
Brief Encounter is a classic romantic drama set in 1945 in and around a railway station. This cache is set in and around Middleton St George railway station, which is on the original 1825 railway line, though now disused. The station wasn't there in 1825, passengers had to buy their tickets from the pub across the road, which is still there. The station only operated for a short time, until the train line was re-directed onto it's current route, when the main railway station at Darlington was built and the line re-directed.
