The cache is a micro a little distance from the church so please take time to visit this lovely building.Take care if driving where you park, as although it is placed on a country lane it can get quite busy at times.Whilst here, go and visit the interesting village [and other caches]
The church in West Felton, dedicated to St. Michael was founded in the 12th
century. The
Norman work was destroyed probably during the Reformation Period. The South aisle was
added just after the Norman Apse of the Sanctuary was destroyed. The choir and the
Sanctuary area were added later and constructed of local sandstone. Very little original
work is to be seen now. The church was much restored during the Victorian Period by Sir
Giles Scott in the mock Gothic Style. Unfortunately the 17th
century stone and copper
sundial was badly vandalised about 1979.
