Geocache Description:

A salute to Lake Placid hosting the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics

This is a park and grab not far from the ski jumping site of both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.

"We are all taught that you need wings to fly. Not in the case of Nordic Combined Olympian Bill Demong, who made history at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Bill, a local Olympian, was the first American to win Nordic Combined gold. The Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid was Bill's training ground for many years and is currently the training site for many aspiring young athletes who hope one day to earn a spot on the U.S. Winter Olympic Team."

If you visit the site itself, there is an entry fee.  The cache, however, is located a short distance away and has no fee.  Beware of the no parking signs no too far from the cache.  BYOP.  There is a FTF Lake Placid, USA, ski jumping pin attached to the cache.
