Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Allenheads Amble. A series of discos and traditional caches in 2 sets which will take you through Allenheads itself and further along with a beautiful walk along the riverside.

Allenheads is a village in Northumberland, England, situated in the Pennines to the north of Weardale. Allenheads is situated 8 miles further along the river East Allen from Allendale. It is a former lead mining community.

Car parking for Allenheads Amble part A is at N54 48.151 W002 13.193 (the first disco cache is located here).

Watch out for the muggles ........ :-D

This first cache is named after the historic hydraulic engine on display in the centre of the beautiful village.

The Hydraulic engine at Allenheads Mine was built in 1864 at Elswick and used to power the sawmill. It has now been re-erected in a purpose built display centre in the village.

TWEEZERS AND WELLIES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THROUGHT OUT THE FULL SERIES!!!!
