Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Allenheads Amble. A series of discos and traditional caches in 2 sets which will take you through Allenheads itself and further along with a beautiful walk along the riverside.

Allenheads is a village in Northumberland, England, situated in the Pennines to the north of Weardale. Allenheads is situated 8 miles further along the river East Allen from Allendale. It is a former lead mining community.

If tackling this second part of the series by car, parking for one or two vehicles can be found at N54 49.498 W002 13.907

Walk down the steep winding small road towards the river. You will come to a ford - best not to attempt this - look right and you will see a small footbridge to see you safely to the far side of the river.

Beware, the bridge is home to the usual inhabitant!!
