My son and I encountered this sign while hiking the Elk Viewing Trail. That was all the reason I needed to place a cache close to here! Actually, there are several signs like this one in this area. When we first hiked here, this was the first sign we found. The Elk Viewing Trail requires moderate hiking ability, but the views are just wonderful! The entire trail is about 1.8 miles long, and takes my teenage son and I about an hour. Parking for the trail can be found past the parking lot for the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
The cache is a small green container about the size of a salt shaker. Please replace the container as you found it. I can't say this cache would be easy to find in a lot of snow, but with light snow cover, it can be found.
While hiking the Elk Viewing Trail, please take in the wonderful views of the Trexler Nature Preserve, and the nearby Lehigh Valley Zoo. AND, you should be able to view the elk! Everytime we've hiked there, the elk have spotted us before we spotted them. They are in an large enclosed area. Please leave the elk alone.
