The Guelph Pollinator Park is an urban space like few others. After closing the Eastview Landfill Site in 2003, the City of Guelph had to come up with a plan to remediate and re-purpose the site. Unlike "Mount Trashmore" in Kitchener - the old Strasburg Road landfill site - Eastview is not quite tall enough to be a small ski hill.
Instead, the actual landfill is slowly being replanted with pollinator-friendly plant species. Access is restricted to the pollinator park itself, but just outside of the perimeter fence is a groomed trail. The north-east corner of the property is also home to Eastview Community Park with several football and soccer fields as well as parking.
The cache itself is just a small cammoed container hidden in the woods about 30m off the trail. No need for a big bushwhack from the parking lot. Just follow the trail until close and take a short side trip to the cache. There is no winter maintenance so the parking is closed in the off-season. Winter parking is available on the sidestreet across from the entrance co-ordinates.
