Elephant footsteps Traditional Cache

Climb the stairs to start the hike- at the top you decide between violets and twins. It's confusing at first: the nice paved trail ends quickly. Some concrete trickles on uphill, but the best way to go is left, then right. Once you hit the rocky slope and round elephant footprints, you're on the right track. Follow one elephant uphill, then two. Before the next elephant takes his third step, peek under the small tree near the trail.

Starting near one of Hong Kong's best schools, this is the start of one of the most popular traillheads in Hong Kong. Once you've found the cache, place it back where you found it, continue up to the catchwater, where you have a choice of walking to Stanley along the catchwater trail or over The Twins. To your left there are options up over Violet Hill toward Parkview and Jardine's Lookout, and straight ahead will take you down along the reservoir into Tai Tam Country Park.
