Plaka is the picturesque port of Leonidion which is about 4km inland. There is a small beach inside the harbour and another much longer beach on the coast proper. The port has a small fishing fleet and is a popular stop for yacht flotillas in the summer months. There is one small hotel, a bar on the main beach and three tavernas on the harbour front. The Delfini (Dolphin) is particularly recommended.
To get to Plaka you will need to go inland and cross the bridge at Leonidion itself. However, the town, which is the capital of South Kynouria, is well worth a visit for its traditional mansion houses and for the spectacular view of the red cliffs of the Parnon range which overlook it. Situated at the mouth of the river Dafnon, Leonidion is famous for the fruit and vegetables grown in this highly fertile delta, particularly the aubergine for which there is an international festival each year.
To find the cache you will need to park in the harbour and take a path to a small church which overlooks it. The cache is a small plastic food container and the contents consist of a log a pencil (no pen) and a couple of items for trading.
