Geocache Description:

It is a nice area leading to the Rodeo Arena just off the side of the dirt road. There are plenty of places to hold your horses and park. Please bring your own writing utensil. It is a black jar full of trinkets and a log book. Just a little bit up the hill, around a tree and some rocks is where you will find it.

Welcome to the Southwest Horseman’s Arena! Are you ready for a Wild Ride?

Some facts about the area is that this is where the Wild, Wild West Pro Rodeo kicks off at the Southwest Horseman’s Arena. The PRCA Wild, Wild West Pro Rodeo has made a little bit of history. In 2010, Tilden Hooper rode Big Tex to tie the bareback world record, and break the Southwest Horseman's Arena record, with a 94. In 2011, some cowboys put up big scores in the bull riding event, but the livestock got the better end of the group. There are all kinds of events that take place on rodeo nights like mutton bustin kicking things off first, steer roping, tie town roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, bare back riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, and even my personal favorite, team roping. There are also other events that have taken place here at this arena like the Grant County Horse Shows, Grant County Rodeo Queen Contests, but also it even is a nice place to just go out for a ride and work your horses.
