Land of Many Flags Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Aye-yo: I am very surprised that Portland accepted new geocaching guidelines that does not allow geocaches in this great area with many trails. Recently bicyclists protested here in regards to Portland policy restrictions to their sport. Obviously, bicyclists have very strong support in Portland while the geocaching community seems to be fading away...

I truly enjoyed hiking in this area and spent many hours putting special care on the cache placements in this park. Now all my efforts are but memories as they turn to dust. It appears that the geocaching community is being 'shut-out' of Portland as bicyclists and homeless have many more privileges.

Geocache Description:

Perhaps the best place to park is along Brugger Street since the residents along Palatine Hill don't like visiters parking in front of their houses. There might be some permit-free parking on the weekend at the college nearby to the South of this big trail systems. There might be some parking at the hill bottom along Macadam Road.

I was hiking along when I noticed many small flags scattered about. Perhaps the flags have something to do with removal of ivy and/or blackberries. But along the way I ran across a nice hiding spot for a cache that is about 50' South of a large stump. The cache location is between the dirt main trail and many flags to the West. The cache is a brown screw top bowl container. Be aware that there might be some stingy nettles and blackberries nearby in the late spring to fall time.

Congrats to katchip for the FTF.
