Sørlandet sykehus Kristiansand er regionsykehus for Agder-fylkene og har 140 000 innbyggere i nedslagsfeltet og ca. 3000 ansatte. Sammen med sykehusene i Arendal og Flekkefjord danner det Sørlandet sykehus. Det er eid av Helse Sør-Øst som igjen er eid av staten. Kommunens legevakt er også lokalisert her.

The municipality's emergency department, where all the minor injuries and illnesses is treated when the regular doctors offices are closed, is also located here. The hospital has a complex organisation. The three hospitals Kristiansand, Arendal and Flekkefjord are administered as one unit which are called Sørlandet Sykehus. Sørlandet Sykehus is owned by a company called Helse Sør-Øst which owns all the hospitals in South-East Norway. It in turn is owned by the State.
