PhillyCheese called and asked if GreatatLife and I wanted to take a hike to Quicksilver Mountain peak. It seemed to be a day for great weather so sure why not! This peak is located in the Owyhee Mountains behind Oreana, Idaho. Have you heard of Oreana? Well bout time ya did! It is south of Mountain Home and yes out in the desert somewhere near Grand View Idaho. Are you lost yet? Wait till you start climbing the hills to find the locaction for this cache, then you might be lost!!! Hope not! We went cross country to get to the spot of the cache and then could see an ATV trail and walked on it 90% of the way back. So yes there are ATV trails. We had a great day of hiking, the weather was about 60* up on top. All though we ran out of time to make it all the way to the peak and had to head back. We could see the Quicksilver peak and we were so close. Maybe another time we will do an overnight and not have to move so fast and then make it all the way to the top. The area gives a great view into Boise and Bogus and all the surrounding area of the Owyhee's. The main road getting there was a dirt road and seemed to be well maintained up to a point, then it still wasn't bad just not maintained. The family car could go on the main road, but not to the parking spot, which is not far from the main road. The ATV trail numbers that were posted are C310. We also intersected with C300.
